About

We are sisters, both Southern California natives now eagerly exploring the cities we call home. Jen moved to the Mission district of iconic San Francisco in 2012. She is an architect who has traveled the world, from Mongolia to France, and is happy to have settled in a place where she can walk to work. Jane moved to the Garden District of New Orleans in the summer of 2013. She is an academic who spends most of her time buried in a book or in front of a classroom, and looks forward to exploring the liveliness of this city in the South. We think that SF and NOLA are both unique American cities that also have a lot in common. They are both culinary cities where the cuisines are not only vibrant and celebrated but also deeply tied to their respective local cultures. They are also both unique and idiosyncratic cities that are truly beloved by both residents and tourists alike. San Francisco and New Orleans have long histories for American cities, and many stories to tell. This blog is a way for us to share our experiences with each other, and with you. Welcome to this place!
